The cost was $41,075 and if you were to use CGI in almost every scene, as this film would call for, Polone estimated the cost to “balloon the budget by a factor of four or five to more than $110 million, making the project economically unviable.” In the scene with a dog jumping into a treacherous rushing wall of water, a CGI dog was used, not a real dog. Polone spoke to the cost of making a film like this with all CGI animals, explaining it would be impossible budget-wise.
